How to Lower your Golf Score

I believe that I have found the true secret to good golf, as I indicated on ezrine reports this old gentleman to whom I had the pleasure and fortune to play a round with (he was 91) imparted to me how to knock 15 to 20 points off of your game, particularly if you have problems trying to break the 100's as well as the 90's and it has nothing to do with spending money for equipment or training aids. When you are told it is a mental game , believe me it is a mental game,

Here it is, you were raised to believe what you believe because it is the order of society and it is what it is. But my friend, golf is truly what they say "It is a game of Opposites" and you must play it as such, you must not play the game of golf as you believe it to be. Think about this:

1) If you want the ball to go up, you must hit down
2) If you want the ball to travel far,you must take an even slow tempo swing & maintain balance
3) If you want the ball to travel a short and errant distance, swing as hard as you can
4) If you want laser beam target hits, aim to the left or right of the target, aim to the left if you are a right handed swinger and to the left if you are a left handed swinger.
5) If you never want to hit your target ...... line up directly to your target and swing
6) It is not the highest score that win ........ It is the lowest

When you look at the above statements, you should now understand why golf is indeed a game of opposites, and if you play it that way you will become a well rounded golfer and be happy.

Again, I am 64 years old and I started playing golf at 60 my first two years of golf I could hardly ever break a hundred, and this was during my big money spending days for equipment, training aids, magic drivers, can't miss wedges, and in the hole putters. These things cost me a fortune.

The old man asked me to by him a beer ($1.95) and he would share some important information with me, and he told me exactly the 6 points listed above. I applied these principles and in 2006 my handicap was 10, I had joined a Senior league and they placed me in the "C" flight, at the end of the season (October) I was informed I would be bumped up to the "A" flight championship bracket in 2007, where I went on to reduce my index another 2 points and I now carry a single digit handicap, and I am totally enjoying golf and having fun and that's pretty damn good for playing this game for only four years.
